Don Mays is the founder of Product Safety Insights LLC, a consulting enterprise that advises companies on product safety assurance. His practice focuses on safety program audits, independent monitoring, litigation support/expert witness services, test design, and professional training. Don brings more than 40 years of technical experience leading to a deep understanding of how companies can identify and mitigate their risks while strengthening the operational performance of their product integrity programs. 

Don was formerly the Chief Safety and Quality Officer at Samsung Electronics America where he developed the company’s product safety program. Prior to Samsung, he was Managing Director for Safety and Quality for Deloitte, consulting for some of the largest global companies. For nearly 20 years Don worked for Consumer Reports where he held various positions including Senior Director of Product Safety and Technical Policy, and Director of Testing for Recreation, Home Improvement, and Appliances.  Don also served as Vice President of Retail and Consumer Product Services for Intertek, and as the Technical Director of the Good Housekeeping Institute. 

He is currently Chairman of ASTM's F15 Committee on Consumer Products that oversees 67 subcommittees focused on the development of world-recognized safety and performance standards. He is also President of the Board for the Society of Product Safety Professionals and provides educational training to product safety professionals. Don was formerly on the Board of Directors for ASTM-International, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the International Consumer Products Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO). He is currently on the Board of Kids in Danger and curriculum contributor to KID’s Design Safety Toolkit.
